Farley Mount 10 mile loop

A lovely long loop with a big climb, excellent views and nice forest running (MapyMyRun)

Leave the site by the Winchester entrance and turn left. Take the second turning on the left signed for Sparsholt. Take the next left after 300 metres on to Farley Mount road and climb this to the top.

At the tri-section at the top bear left along the ridge. Just before the road starts to descend (3.42 miles in to the run), turn left in to the car park and follow the Clarendon Way up the hill. Admire the views to your right as you get to the top.

When you reach the woods take the main trail to the left. After 0.6 miles, at the trail crossroads, turn left. Follow this down until it becomes a road and keep going. Cross over Farley Lane (the distance so far is 5.7 miles) and keep going until you hit the T junction. You could go straight on here along the footpath although that's a slightly longer way home than the one described here.

Turn left along Dores Lane for 0.23 miles and turn right in to Ampfield woods along the bridleway by the house with the noisy dogs.

Follow the trail 1.1 miles and turn left at the end. Re-enter Ampfields woods and follow the signed footpath back to Hursley.
